Centara Hotels & Resorts Marks 40 Years of Excellence and Expansion from Osaka to the Maldives, Garnering Top Awards

Centara Hotels & Resorts embarks on expansion in 2024, unveiling new properties and enhancing guest experiences. Aiming to be “The Place to Be” for travellers, their goal is to join the world’s top 100 hotel operators by 2027, marking a new era of growth.

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand’s leading hospitality group, is poised to enter a transformative phase in 2024 with a strategic development agenda that promises to elevate its standing on the global stage. With plans to unveil new flagship properties, rejuvenate existing brands, and roll out groundbreaking guest experiences, Centara aims to position itself as “The Place to Be” for international travelers, targeting a place among the world’s top 100 hotel operators by 2027.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023, Centara laid a strong foundation for growth, venturing into Japan with the Centara Grand Hotel Osaka and garnering prestigious accolades including Kincentric’s “Best Employers Thailand Award” and the “Strongest Brand in Thailand” for Centara Grand. The year also saw a significant boost in performance, with a 52% revenue increase and a notable rise in RevPAR, driven by heightened occupancy and room rates.

The year 2024 is set to witness the continuation of this momentum with the introduction of six new properties. As well as Thailand and Laos, the group is in the middle of developing a luxury hotel and resort in The Maldives, further diversifying Centara’s luxury hospitality portfolio.

Highlighting the expansion is the Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives, slated for a November 2024 opening. This marks the first phase of The Atollia by Centara Hotels & Resorts, a pioneering multi-island destination in the North Malé Atoll. Following this, the upscale Centara Grand Lagoon Maldives is expected to open in Q1 2025, enhancing the Maldives’ luxury resort offerings.

Additionally, 2024 will see extensive renovations to Centara’s flagship hotels in Phuket and Pattaya, alongside significant brand revitalisation efforts, demonstrating the group’s commitment to innovation and excellence in hospitality.

Centara’s dedication to sustainability and Thai-inspired, family-centric hospitality remains at the core of its operations, with the CentaraThe1 membership program and digital enhancements aimed at enriching guest experiences.

“2023 was a pivotal year for Centara as we celebrated our 40th anniversary, moved into new markets, and achieved an upsurge in performance,” stated Michael Henssler, Centara’s Chief Operating Officer. “We will build upon these foundations in 2024, introducing our diverse brands to key cities and resorts across the Asia Pacific and the Indian Ocean.”

Thirayuth Chirathivat, Centara’s Chief Executive Officer, added, “We are delighted with the progress we are making towards our long-term goals. Having set ourselves the target of becoming a top 100 global hotel group by 2027, we jumped from 150th to 111th in the rankings last year, which shows that we are well ahead of schedule. We look forward to revealing even more exciting projects to our esteemed partners and cherished guests in the coming months.”

As Centara Hotels & Resorts continues to forge its path toward global recognition, the group’s ongoing initiatives and commitment to excellence underscore its ambition to redefine luxury hospitality and create unparalleled experiences for guests worldwide.
