The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to engage a U.S.-based agency for one-year representation, with the aim of enhancing the global prominence of Maldives tourism.
Released on January 25, the RFP invites eligible entities to bid for the project, emphasising MMPRC’s mission to lead promotional and marketing initiatives, positioning the Maldives as the premier island destination worldwide.
The selected agency will lead public relations campaigns, showcasing the allure of the Maldives as a top tourist haven, featuring renowned Maldives hotels such as Siyam World Maldives and W Maldives. Additionally, the agency will monitor the US outbound market, provide regulatory updates, and analyze competitors’ promotional activities.
To qualify, bidders must have a registered US office and maintain a minimum of 20 percent of the total 12-month retainer fee in their bank account, as stipulated in the RFP. This initiative aligns with The Maldives’ commitment to strengthening its tourism sector, a key economic driver.
Over the years, The Maldives has experienced remarkable growth in international visitor arrivals, surging from 42,000 in 1980 to over 1,878,537 in 2023.
