President Inaugurates MNDF Air Corps and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Service

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, leading the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) as Commander-in-Chief, inaugurated the MNDF Air Corps and integrated unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) into its operations.

 

 

 

Male, Maldives – In a landmark move to enhance national defence capabilities, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Commander-in-Chief of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), officially launched the MNDF’s Air Corps and unveiled the service’s first unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

 

The inauguration of the MNDF Air Corps and the integration of UAV technology mark a significant advancement in the Maldives’ military infrastructure. This strategic development is poised to play a crucial role in safeguarding the nation’s independence, sovereignty, and maritime security. The deployment of UAVs within the Air Corps is set to bolster the nation’s surveillance capabilities, enhancing the monitoring of maritime territories and providing a deterrent against illicit activities.

 

During the ceremony, President Muizzu conducted the official introduction of the UAVs and signed a decree initiating air surveillance operations across the Maldivian archipelago. In recognition of this momentous occasion, a ceremonial seven-gun salute was rendered, celebrating the introduction of UAV and air surveillance capabilities to the MNDF.

 

Further emphasising the administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for national welfare, President Muizzu also unveiled “Ras’ain,” a pioneering mobile application designed for fishermen and travellers. Developed to improve maritime safety and efficiency, “Ras’ain” provides users with timely weather alerts, crucial messages from the Coast Guard, and innovative features such as fish school location services.

 

This significant milestone underscores the Maldives‘ dedication to maintaining its territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens through technological innovation and strategic military enhancements.
