Male, The Maldives – The Maldives, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and luxurious resorts, has experienced a significant milestone in tourism with Chinese tourist arrivals expected to have easily have surpassing the 50,000 mark since the beginning of the year, according to recent data trends.

 

As of February 21st, 49,769 Chinese tourists had already visited The Maldives, a figure that virtually guarantees the breach of the 50,000 milestone by the end of February.

 

The Ministry of Tourism reported that a total of 349,612 tourists had visited The Maldives as of the beginning of February, showcasing a remarkable increase of 16.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

 

Italy emerged as the second-largest market with 33,552 tourists, followed by Russian tourists, now ranked third, reaching 33,213.

 

Currently, The Maldives boasts 180 operational resorts, alongside 15 hotels and 829 guesthouses, offering diverse options for accommodation ranging from luxurious resorts to cozy guesthouses.

 

With a strategic focus on tourism, The Maldives has set its sights on attracting more than two million tourists this year, further solidifying its position as one of the world’s premier holiday destinations.
